Vikings Teams 5381 and 6348

In 2011, we were asked to help startup and mentor an FTC team at our neighboring middle school, Van Hoosen. We accepted and sent students down to the middle school to help the rookie team with both the engineering and non-engineering functions of their team. Ultimately, by working with the Vikings, we are helping develop the next generation of AdamBots team members because most students from Van Hoosen attend Adams.

In 2012 – 2013 season, the FTC team amassed so many students to justify splitting the one team into two. Team 5381 became the Viko-Psychos, and Team 6348 was created as the Thunder Blades. That year, a VEX Robotics team was also created.

In the 2013-2014 season, the FTC team combined back into one, but the VEX team split and formed their two teams. The FTC team got 4th place at their regionals, and made it into states. The VEX team was able to make it into states, and gain 2nd place.

The 2014-2015 season looks bright, with many new members who have joined the team. Over the years, the Van Hoosen team has won countless awards in categories ranging from CAD to the Compass award.
