Amelia II for 2022

Amelia II for 202
Robot named Amelia II to honor Amelia Earhart. Capable of level 4 Climb within 18 Seconds. Features catapult shooter that eliminates backspin that dramatically reduces bounce out from high goal. 2 Ball Auton. High goal shooting range from TARMAC line to safe zone pads. Can also shoot into low goal when against fender.

The Game

In Rapid React, Two competing alliances are invited to process cargo for transportation. Each alliance is assigned a Red or Blue cargo color to process by retrieving and scoring it into the hub. Human players assist the cargo retrieval and scoring effort from within their terminals. In the final moments of each match, Alliance robots race to engage with their hanger to prepare for transport!

The FieldImage result for RAPID REACT field

Each FIELD for RAPID REACT is 26 ft. 11¼ in. (~821 cm) by 52 ft. 5¼ in. (~1598 cm) carpeted area. The field contains: A centrally located HUB that has upper and lower scoring goals, A TARMAC ares that surrounds the hub, CARGO that surrounds the TARMAC at start of match, A TERMINAL at opposed corners of the field where cargo can be loaded into robots, 2 LAUNCH PADS for each alliance that are safe zones for shooting, and A HANGER where robots will climb and hang at end of the match.

Game Pieces

RAPID REACT utilizes CARGO which is 9.5 Inch Diameter oversize tennis balls. Each alliance has a total of 11 game pieces to score. CARGO is recycled into the field after scoring into the HUB. The HUB will distribute the balls in a random fashion to the field after they are scored. The HANGER area contains 4 rungs that are fixed at different heights above the floor. The robots are to hang from the rungs at the end of match. More points are scored by hanging on the highest rung.

Autonomous Period

The first fifteen seconds of RAPID REACT is autonomous, meaning that the robot will have to move on their own to score points without input from the Drivers. Points are scored by moving beyond the TARMAC Area and by scoring CARGO into the HUB

Teleoperated Period

After the autonomous period follows the teleoperated period which last 2 minutes and fifteen seconds. During this phase, drivers control their robots to collect and score CARGO into either the high or low goals of the HUB. Robots can climb the rungs in the HANGER in the last 30 seconds of the game. The higher they climb, the more points they score.
