Sub-Teams: Fabrication and Manipulator

What are 2 fun facts about you?

I’m a docent (tour guide) at Leader Dogs for the Blind.
I’ve organized and led three Habitat for Humanity trips to Central America.

Why did you join the AdamBots?

After a year of watching the team and going to all the competitions, I couldn’t wait to get involved. My son was on the team and my husband was already a mentor.

What is your favorite memory from robotics?

All the fun times working with the team members in the build room.

Why have you learned from being on the team?

Once you’re an engineer, you’re always an engineer. I had retired from engineering. Being a robotics mentor let me use my engineering skills.

Do you have any tips for the current AdamBots?

If you want to be part of the engineering teams, spend time in the build room. Ask student leaders or mentors to show you how to use the equipment.

What is something you would of wanted to do differently to reach where you are today? (career-wise or to get to the AdamBots)

I would have continued going to school for a PhD in either engineering or business.

What is special about FIRST?

Teamwork, learning the technical skills needed to build a robot, the environment of designing and building the robot as a team, going to competitions and having a lot of fun while doing all of it, and the friendships that develop as the team works together.
