Build Season 2012 – Week 3 Recap

The third week of the 2012 FIRST Build Season was a tough one, as semester exams took place during the week. Still, the teams made a good effort to come to robotics meetings and build sessions after studying from Monday to Friday. Teams started working together more than ever before this week, as thedsc01007 pressure of having only three weeks of build remaining at this half-way point pushed the students and mentors to make speedy progress.

The Chassis Team worked on locks and transmissions at the start of the week, eventually finishing the chassis on Saturday.

The Above Chassis Team finalized the dimensions for their rollers & shooters and finished the CAD. They worked with the CAD Team to figure out how to feed the shooterand finished the end caps and rollers. They worked on Saturday to machine the bolts.

The CAD Team re-CADed the chassis and worked on CADing the lazy susan, frame, and bridge. They worked very closely with the Above Chassis Team.

The Programming Team made progress in getting the Kinect to work.

The Animation Team finished their storyboard and began modeling.

The Marketing & Website Team worked on bios, social networking, and a picture upload system for the website. They also designed new Alamo t-shirts and brainstormed commercial ideas.

The Photo & Video Team worked with the Marketing & Website Team to upload pictures to the website and document the team. 

The Lambot Mentoring Team discussed robot strategy and design in a video conference.

The Field Team worked on making the field more portable and getting the backboards ready.

The Simulation Team are waiting on the other engineering teams to finish before they continue building their robot.

The Systems Team worked on controlling the robot’s heavy weight.

The Controls Team worked on sensors and controls for dropping the bridge.
