Bloomfield Hills Girl’s Competition 2021

Written by AdamBot Student on November 15, 2021 in 2021 FIRST

On Saturday, October 30th the AdamBots participated in the Bloomfield Hills Girls Competition. At the Bloomfield Hills Girl’s Competition the AdamBots donated socks to the Baldwin Center donation box set up by another FRC team to provide warmth for teens throughout winter. In addition to being a great outreach opportunity, this competition was a great chance for our all-girls drive team to gain more experience as the male team members were not allowed to touch the robot, only cheer on the girls.

In the qualification matches The Adambots won 3 out of our 6 matches. In our first match we had a narrow loss to the red alliance with a score of 71 to 51. From there we won three matches in a row before losing the last two matches in the qualification rounds. This put us in the ranking board as the 13th seated team for the alliance selection. During alliance selection we were the first pick of the third alliance led by captain team 226 the Hammerheads and joined by teams 2832 (The Livonia Warriors) and 3414 (the Hackbots). As the red alliance in the quarter-finals we narrowly won our first match with a score of 96 to 94. In our second match we performed much stronger, winning with a score of 179 to 77. The highlight of this match was a triple climb with all three robots in our alliance being on the level generator switch at the end of the match. This scored us 90 points in the endgame and winning the match enabled us to move on to the semi-finals. Unfortunately we lost both our matches in the semi-finals to the second seated alliance who went on to win the whole competition. Overall, we are thrilled to have made it to the semi-finals and we learned a lot from the experience of attending the competition. See you next year at the Girl’s Comp!
