Our Solution: Amidala

Our 2020 FRC robot Amidala is named after Padmé Amidala from Star Wars. Amidala was the elected ruler for the people of Naboo during the final years of the Galactic Republic. She advocated for the preservation of democracy and a peaceful resolution to the Clone Wars.

The Game

In Infinite Recharge, two alliances, each with three teams and their trusty droids, attempt to obtain as many points as possible by collecting and scoring power cells into the power ports, completing the requirements for the control panels, and balancing the droids at the rendezvous point to activate the shield generators.

The FieldImage result for infinite recharge field

Each FIELD for INFINITE RECHARGE is 26 ft. 11¼ in. (~821 cm) by 52 ft. 5¼ in. (~1598 cm) carpeted area bound by and including the inward- and upward-facing surfaces of the guardrails and inward-facing surfaces of the ALLIANCE WALLS (except Chute surfaces and any surface beyond the face of the POWER PORT). It is populated with a SHIELD GENERATOR, TRENCHES, LOADING BAYS, and POWER PORTS.

Game Pieces

Infinite Recharge features many diverse game pieces, such as the power cells, power ports, control panels. The power cells are scored into the power ports for points and control panels are to be spun to the correct positions. The rendezvous point require droids to balance on it in order to activate the shield generators

Autonomous Period

The first fifteen seconds of Infinite Recharge is autonomous, meaning that the droids will have to move on their own to score points without driver driving them.

Teleoperated Period

After the autonomous period follows the teleoperated period which last 2 minutes and fifteen seconds, all the way until the end of the game. During this phase, drivers control their droids to collect and score power cells into the power ports and manipulating the control panels to activate different stages of the shield generator. Afterwards, in the endgame, the last 30 seconds of the game, the droids have to balance on the generator switches to activate the shield.
