Fifth week

Written by Anahita Sinha on February 10, 2024 in 2014 FIRST

Week 5 was another fantastic week for the Adambots! As we close in on our first competition of the season at Kettering, the AdamBots are collaborating strongly.

The Mechanical subteam is currently working on the robotic arm that they completely manufactured. The chassis has been constructed and examined. The CAD subteam 3D printed limelight mounts, worked on making the intake/shooter on CAD, and made swerve drive covers. Additionally, they planned out the electrical board layout for the robot. The Programming subteam continued optimizing the shooter code, tested encoders for the arm and wrist motors, and finessed auto-orientation and detection of game pieces and other robots. The Electrical subteam will install the pieces in the upper portion of the robot. In preparation for the competition, they will wire the arm and install the encoders.

The Business subteams are finishing up and preparing for their submissions.

The Impact subteam has been running final checks on submissions. They are also finalizing the presentation script and building the board for the presentation. The Sustainability subteam fixed up the headings and formatting of the sustainability plan and updated some of the last pieces of content. They also developed a slideshow to present to the team about sustainability and will meet with our school’s principal, Mr. Cusumano, to talk about how to promote environmental sustainability in our community. The Imagery subteam worked on decals for the outreach robot (2009 one). They also have started making posters for our pit at the competitions. The Photo/Video subteam finished the Impact video for submission this week. They also took individual photos and team photos to showcase on our website. The Media subteam will continue creating new member pages. As well as create individual pages for advocacy events, which they will use to create our new “STEM Advocacy” tab for the website.

The Supply Chain subteam ordered parts for the electrical subteam and the Impact presentation. The Scouting subteam held a meeting last Saturday to discuss what they are going to scout with this year. They have decided to do scouting online, which will be a first for the Adambots!
