Overview of first two competitions

Written by AdamBot Student on March 25, 2023 in 2014 FIRST

On March 4-5th, The Adambots competed in our first competition of the season where there were 39 teams competing. With a record of 9 wins, 3 losses, and 0 ties, the teams placed 7th after finishing the qualification matches. The Adambots were the first pick of the 4th alliance captain, the Blue Devils team 4130, and joined along with Redneck Robotics team 9207. Our alliance made it through the first bracket, but we were eliminated in the semifinals. After Kettering we replaced our entire telescoping arm with a new one that had an extra 4 inches of run. We also added LEDs to indicate distance away from the human player station.

On March 16th-18th, The Adambots also did very well at their second competition in Standish/Sterling. There were 39 teams competing at this competition. They placed sixth in the qualifying matches and were the captains of the fifth alliance with a record of 9 wins, 3 losses, and 0 ties. We chose team 2619, The charge, and team 3770, Blitzcreek. We won the semifinals!

Impact Award – At our first comp of the season, Kettering Week 1, we won the Impact award. The Impact award is the most prestigious award in FIRST, given to the team that makes the most measurable impact on their community.  The Impact subteam submits two documents that include significant information about our team, such as our outreach and the business plan. Then we present to the judges the day of competition. We were competing against 4 other teams for the award and through the award, we qualified for states.

The Adambots are now ready to tackle the state championship on April 7-8th. We are expecting great performances from both the presenters of the impact award and the drive team!
