2016 FRC Blogs: Build Week 2

Written by AdamBot Student on January 24, 2016 in 2016 FIRST

The AdamBots have had another extremely busy and productive week. On the engineering side of the team, the Design Selection Team selected our design on Tuesday. The Strategy and Scouting Team was able to finalize our strategy for the robot and check that our design meets the basic strategy. They also created an autonomous strategy. The CAD Team has been working with the Mechanical Teams in the process of making the master CAD model. The Mechanical Teams have also been starting to order parts and work on weight calculations. The Electrical and Electronics Team has been creating the Input/Output sheet, coming up with parts orders, working with the other teams to understand the designs. Meanwhile, the Controls and Programming Team was able to start programming basic parts of the robot’s capabilities and explore vision processing. Lastly, the Field Team used the extra build time on Monday to make the drawbridge and portcullis. They also constructed the ramparts and are making rough terrain and cheval de frises now.

On the business teams, the Chairman’s Team continued editing their submission questions. The Business Plan Team finished working on pit presentations, starting to practice presenting the business plan, and helped the Chairman’s Team with their submission. The Marketing Team has been editing invitations to Meet the AdamBots and CyberCats, which will be held on Febuary 13th from 2 – 4 pm at Adams High School. The Project Management Team was able to order some build materials and also worked on scheduling during this week.

On the media side of the team, the Animation Team submitted the finished safety animation this past week. As always, the Photo/Video Team was seen taking pictures of the team working throughout the week and finished editing and uploaded the week 1 video.  The Digital Media Team was working on blog, helping CyberCats with their website, and creating pages for the new game. Lastly, the Imagery Team worked on the team standard, sponsor banners, and a world’s poster commemorating the AdamBots’ trip to the 2016 FIRST World Championships.

The AdamBots are happy to report that we are right on schedule in completing our goals for week two of build season. We are excited to see what other teams have come up with at our first competition in early March!
