Build Season Week 3 Recap

Written by AdamBot Student on January 25, 2014 in 2014 FIRST

Our third week was another busy one, cut short by yet another day off school due to low temperatures on Friday that made our Saturday build the most hectic yet. All teams have been powering forward, however, in pursuit of their goals.

This week the Chassis Team accomplished a lot this past week. We were able to finish both of our frames as well as fully complete one of our chassis. After exam week we will be finishing our other chassis.

1-20-14-038The Ball Shooter Team has been working on finalizing the shooter design. The shooter is almost completely drawn by our CAD team, and most of the dimensions are final. We plan to begin assembling parts on Saturday and continue on throughout the week as we receive completed parts from our Fabrication team.

This week, the Ball Acquisition Team was mainly finishing CAD for the design. CAD should be finished by the end of the week so we can continue building.

The Programming Team has outlined the numerous physical systems of the robot in Java code this week. In addition, we’ve set up Open Camera Vision on the BeagleBone, and, as a proof of concept, set up a test; the computer responds excitedly to a flashlight being shined at the robot’s camera.

The Photo/Video Team updated galleries, uploaded a new video reviewing the past build week, and worked alongside the animation team on designing the Chairman’s video.

The Digital Media Team decided that we are going to discontinue our vine, and start posting small clips onto Facebook. We are planning to create a new tab on the website with a guide on how to create a website so teams that are starting new websites can use it as a reference.
