Name: Rick Drummer

Number of years with the team: 10

What is your favorite robotics memory? Watching the reaction of Warren Hildebrandt when he won the Woodie Flowers award in Sacramento, California in 2006. Although the Adambots team has received numerous awards, it is one of the only times the he has been recognized for all his many years of dedication and service.

What or who got you involved? My older son, Andrew, joined the Adambots and the team needed some adult supervision.

Where did you graduate from? Wright State University (BS in Accounting), University of Dayton (MBA), GMI Engineering and Management Institute (MS in Manufacturing Management)

Where do you work today and what do you do? I am the Region 2 North Bio-Defense Network Coordinator, which means I help coordinate all-hazards emergency management for Oakland, Macomb, and St. Clair Counties. I am retired from General Motors after 33 years in the Finance Staff.

Interests and hobbies: I am an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America for both Troop 360 and Clinton Valley Council. I also enjoy playing guitar, especially with a band that plays for benefits.

One message for future FIRST students: FIRST is a great opportunity and a gift to students that allows them to have a hands-on learning experience with fellow students and adult mentors. There are very few opportunities for this kind of learning, so take advantage of it and jump in with both feet.
