Matt has been on the team since the fall of 2005. He first became involved with robotics by seeing a stranger holding up a sign that said "If you *heart* robots come inside. He attended the meeting and joined the team.

Matt has many role models in his life, but the one person he's always looked up to is a woman by the name of Janie Barner. Ms. Barner is a German teacher at Adams High School. Matt admires the fact that Ms. Barner can be professional in meetings and yet have a vibrant colorful personality in public.

Due to his duel involvement in the Adams High School Swimming Team and robotics, he could only spend a limited amount of time with the robotics team during the winter FIRST season. In 2009 that all changed when Matt finally decided to put FIRST above swimming and other athletics.

Matt is planning on attending Michigan State University in the fall of 2009. He hopes that the experiences in science and technology that FIRST has given him will further his education at MSU. He plans on majoring in Biomedical Engineering. FIRST has taught him much about the engineering world, and Matt is ready to go out and experience it.

One final piece of advice I'd like to leave behind for FIRST students is, never get distressed; have fun. Through fun is how you will learn.
