Ronald McDonald House
During the 2009 OCCRA season and 2010 FIRST build season we collected can tabs that will be donated to the Ronald McDonald house to help raise funds. This isn't the first time we've worked to benefit the Ronald McDonald house. Several years ago we had a bottle and can drive to raise funds to purchase food and drink. We then served the food at a local Ronald McDonald House. The parents of sick children that were staying at the Ronald McDonald House really enjoyed the meal and the company.

Dean Kamen's Homework: 2009
This year's homework assignment was to find team alumni, where ever they were. Our team is ten years old this year and that's lots of people to find! So far, orginial team members from 1999 I have found...Joe Pirozzo, Stephen Pannuto, Paul Albertus and Nicholas Reeck. Their information will be posted soon.
Team members from 2000 through last year's class of 2008 have been checking in and great news of jobs, interships and schools have been past my way. What a great homework assignment Dean gave this year. It is good to hear the success stories from the past team members!
Halloween Hoot
Dinosaur Hill is a Nature Center in Rochester Hills. Every October, Dinosaur Hill has a haunted walk for young children. They decorate the trails and have young actors come in to perform. Halloween Hoot lasts for 3 nights and for the past five years, the AdamBots have volunteered to clean up after the Halloween Hoot. We take down the decorations, clean the trails and make sure everything is put away.
CROP Walk
We are helping out with the local Rochester CROP Walk to help combat hunger. We take pledges and walk five miles with a very large group. If you wish to help (pledge), please Contact Us.
Relay for Life
The AdamBots are giving back to their community by helping with the Relay for Life Cancer Walk. AdamBots team members walk in memory of those who have lost their battles with cancer and in support of those battling cancer like Mr. Drummer. Let's go guys!
School Visits
The AdamBots team members are going to visit local elementary schools to spread the word of FIRST and to help advertise ourselves to future team members!
Toys For Tots
The AdamBots collected toys for the very popular U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program that distributes toys as Christmas Gifts to needy children.

Past Projects
Below you can find projects that we've done or participated in the past.
Sarge The Robot
Sarge is the local police robot who visits elementary schools. After 19 years in the field, the Oakland County Sheriff's Department came to us and asked for some maintenance. Among other things, we upgraded Sarge so that he was DVD ready and fixed/replaced many time-worn parts.
On FOX 2 News
Our team was highlighted on the FOX 2 News segment Parent 2 Parent. The AdamBots would like to thank our former sponsor Siemens VDO for arranging this wonderful opportunity.
At the Rochester Hills Public Library
The AdamBots have gone to the Rochester Hills Public Library several times now. We are always a welcome attraction there, building community awareness about robotics, science, and technology, as well as attracting people to the library.
OPC Robotics
The Adams Robotics Team offered the members of the OPC Computer Club a Robotics league of their own. We used the VEX Robotics kits to make competitive robots. The season ran from approximately mid-October through mid-December. The AdamBots designed a "game" for the OPC and worked with them every step of the way.
Kevin Schalte's Eagle Project
Kevin Schalte, 4 year member of the Adams Robotics Team, completed his Eagle Project in June 2007 with the help of the AdamBots. The AdamBots worked with Kevin and the Lighthouse PATH organization - an organization that looks after homeless women and children, to develop an after school program for the children. Using LEGO Mindstorm kits, the kids were taught to build a robot and program it to do a task. Eventually, they used a FLL (FIRST LEGO League) field, and had teams actually compete.
Kevin is now a Junior at the University of Michigan, on a full scholarship. He received his BSA Eagle Medal in ceremonies on March 8, 2008. Way to go Kevin!
Dean Kamen's Homework: 2007
In 2007, the founder of FIRST Robotics, Dean Kamen, announced his homework for all FIRST Robotics students. The homework was to reach out to congressmen and other politicians to spread the word of FIRST. Every single member of our team wrote letters to congressmen from Michigan such as Senetor Michael Bishop and Governor Jennifer Granholm. One of our team members Tanya Das wrote a letter to Representative Joe Knollenberg. He responded enthusiasticly and wished to come to our machine shop and watch us work.
