Game Rules

The 2007 OCCRA game's objective is to move two different sizes (10" and 16") of playground balls into the middle structure or side trough. In the middle there is a structure that has four cradles and two different sides, blue and red (for the alliances). Fencing is setup all around the structure and in the middle at a standard 39" tall. The cradles are 60" off the ground and points can be scored by placing playground balls in the cradles as well.

This year, OCCRA has added a VEX challenge as well. Teams can have a VEX robot that will try and navigate an obstacle course to knock a ball into the side trough. Extra points will be added depending on what ball the team knocks into the trough. However, bigger playground balls are harder to reach and are often difficult to knock over in the 15 seconds given.

Each team is also alloted two human players, the "Shooter" and "Loader", who help to score points. Twelve 10" playground balls are given to the two human players. The "Loader" helps put balls into the robot whenever necessary and the "Shooter" can shoot balls into the middle structure or side trough at any time. "Shooters" must make sure that they are shooting into the right color side (the red side of the middle structure faces the blue alliance teams and vice versa). Each human player is designated a zone in which they cannot leave during the duration of the match.

Scoring

Scoring is the same in both the middle structure and side trough. Placing a ball in the correct position on a cradle is worth double the points.
