OCCRA 2005: Hanging Havoc
Contents |
Game Rules
This year's game - like many before it - is based around yellow and red balls about 13" in diameter. Balls are scored in V shaped ramps or in goals similar to those of the 2003 season. Of the 12 yellow balls given to each team, most lie within an off-field rack manned by a human player - very similar to the ramp of the 2003 season. One alliance human player passes balls from the rack to the other player, who is free to enter the ball into the field - likely shooting for the goal or loading onto a robot. The 5 red balls are fired from a 'ball launcher' device and are scattered across the field as the match begins.
In the middle of the otherwise unimportant playing area lies the scoring area. The ramps for both the red and blue teams, as well as the hanging bar form a triangle in the middle of the field, with the taller goals at the farther vertices of the triangle. Balls scored in the ramps may be descored, while balls in the goals are 'safe'. The height of the goals and hanging ramp is 5'. The upper ramp is 3'-4' off the ground - the lower ramp lies directly beneath the upper at a height of about 1'.
