Notes About The Wiki

If you're looking for something to do, try this: Tasks. If you run into a non-negotiable wall while working, add a task link (Note of what needs to be done). Generally try to follow this rule of thumb, for every task you add, finish someone else's. Else wise, just check out the Task List. Enjoy!

Editing Rules

Now that our website is beginning to mature, please proceed carefully whenever making changes. Use the Preview button to review changes before applying. When in doubt, contact a Website Team member/leader first. If you're going to make any major additions or changes, please do so in the Development Web first, and then merge it with the main site upon approval.

We have a strict policy against defacement. Website Administrators have authoritative command over all editing tasks on the site, so please respect all their decisions. We keep careful activity logs on all contributors.

Where'd the Tasks Go?

If you click on a Task link, but discover it's not on the page then it's probably hidden (which you all should do too). To find a hidden Task, hit the edit link on the top of the page or section and you should be able to find it.

To make a hidden Task, you enclose it in a special tag (you can hide any/all text with this tag so be careful)

NOTE: Please do not leave messages to other developers via these comment tags. Find another way to communicate to them (such as e-mail)

Web Statistics

The top statistics are there primarily "for fun". A high edit/upload count doesn't necessarily translate into more time or effort spent on the Wiki. It's not a race to the top of the Edit list, it's a collaborative effort for high quality content.

The Popular Page statistics are there to show you what visitors typically focus on when they visit the site. Be careful editing pages in this column; chances are someone will see it before you get a chance to correct a potential mistake. Use the Preview button or the [[Devel:Main Page][Devel Web]] as a temporary development space.

Why are the times so off?

We have chosen to use UTC instead of Eastern time. Converting from UTC to your local time zone consists of simple clicking of the preferences button in the upper right hand corner of any page (when you are logged in).

Messages to Developers/Editors

See the Task List and the To-Do (Wish) List
- If you think something on the Wishlist is feasible and realistic, move it over to the task list (only Website Team members can do so!)
- If you see something on the Task List you can do, do it!

PROOFREADING

Guys, please check over what you commit for simple typos. Now that lots of our site is mature, typos are just unacceptable. I know not all of you use browsers with spellcheckers built in, but would it really kill you to open up a word processor and do a quick copy-paste?

Page Titles

A very important message to developers/editors! ALL articles must be titled correctly. This means that whatever you title of the page is, it is going to show up at the top of the page. For example, this page's title is Developer's Corner and not DevelopersCorner. So, if you want the top of the page to show Developer's Corner, type in:
