The 2008 Season

The FIRST 2008 season was sure to be an exciting new season. Due to a large graduating class last year, the AdamBots had more rookies than veterans. On the bright side, there was almost a 1:1 ratio for mentors to students. An outstanding amount of mentors would hopefully help us improve our chances of being successful.

Due to the buyout of Siemens VDO by Continental, we were not sure how much funding we were going to receive. Therefore, that year we had to cut back on the amount of regionals we were attending and where they were located. We only attended two regionals and they were both in the state of Michigan (Great Lakes and Detroit).

(Week 3) Detroit Regional

2008 Detroit RegionalThe AdamBots got out in the quarterfinals when their alliance went head to head against Chief Delphi (47), Team RUSH (27), and the GEARS (403). On the bright side, lots of improvement was made on the shooter, hybrid mode and some other things. We also learned a couple things that helped us going into Great Lakes Regional. We planned to add wheelchair wheels in place of a pair of omni wheels to reduce some sliding problems we had. The Website Team also won the Best Website award which now qualifies AdamBots.com for the Championship Best Website Award.

(Week 5) Great Lakes Regional

2008 FIRST Great Lakes RegionalGreat Lakes was the last event of the AdamBots 2008 season. There was great improvement over the Detroit Regional, including repairs to the robots shooter and poker. On the programming side, hybrid was also improved. The AdamBots were picked by Huskie Brigade (65) along with Truck Town Thunder (68). Although the AdamBots preformed well, they bowed out once again in the quarterfinals to Team Rush (27) along with Las Gorillas (469) and Boiler Precision Guessworks (1646). The Website Team also won the Best Website award for the second time in a row.
