What are 2 fun facts about you?

One of my favorite things to do is read.
I’ve been on the team for all four years I’ve been in high school.

Why did you join the AdamBots?

I joined the AdamBots during freshman year, since I wanted to be in a club or afterschool activity, and robotics sounded fun. I actually joined a couple of different things, but robotics is the one I stayed with.

What is your favorite memory from robotics?

Last year, after matches had finished on Friday at the Alamo 2012 Regional at San Antonio, I went out onto the River walk with a group of other team members. While that was fun, after was the best part me and just two others went to this park at the base of this tower nearby. The best way to describe it is as a typical urban park, but with waterfalls instead of plants, all lit up for the night. It was awesome, the waterfalls were beautiful, and I and one of the people I was with actually ran through a few of them. On our way back, me and that other student forced our last friend to skip back to the hotel with us. It was just fun throughout.

What have you learned from being on the team?

I’ve learned how to work with and lead a team of people, I’ve learned a whole suite of skills and talents that I could easily use in a real job and in life, and I’ve learned what real friends feel like.

What is special about FIRST?

In FIRST you really feel a community among the different teams. In other sports and teams, the competing teams always feel hostile or indifferent to each other, it’s always your own team you care about. But in FIRST the teams all feel more like they’re there to have fun and meet each other, and you can honestly be friends with people on other teams.
